The County maintains more than 6,500 streetlights in the unincorporated area. Additionally, 18 cities, the State of California, and SDG&E operate streetlights in the region. Knowing which agency to contact can be confusing

County Maintained Roads  List of roads where the County may maintain street lights. If the street light is on a County maintained road, please call  (858) 694-3850

Service Request Form  Use this to submit request online

SDGE  Not all streetlights on County roads are maintained by the County; they may be maintained by SDG&E. If so, we will forward your request or you can submit directly

Caltrans  If located on a freeway (I-5, I-8, etc) or state highway (SR-76, SR-78, etc), those streetlights are maintained by the State

Cities within San Diego County   If the streetlight is not on a County or State road, it may be maintained by a city
