GOOD RETAIL PRACTICES
Good Retail Practices (GRPs) are preventive measures that include practices and procedures that effectively control the introduction of pathogens, chemicals and physical objects into food. If GRPs are not implemented, they could contribute to foodborne illness.
TOXIC SUBSTANCES – PROPERLY IDENTIFIED, STORED, USED
Examples violating good retail practices include storage of hazardous materials next to food/utensils/food contact surfaces or use of unapproved insecticides in a food preparation area.
REQUIREMENTS
- All poisonous substances and cleaning compounds shall be properly labeled; used and stored separate from food, utensils, packing material and food-contact surfaces; approved for use in a food facility; and shall not be reused to store food or utensils (§114254, §114254.1, §114254.2)
