GOOD RETAIL PRACTICES

Good Retail Practices (GRPs) are preventive measures that include practices and procedures that effectively control the introduction of pathogens, chemicals and physical objects into food. If GRPs are not implemented, they could contribute to foodborne illness.

FOOD PROPERLY LABELED & HONESTLY PRESENTED

Examples violating good retail practices include previously frozen fish advertised as “fresh” fish or a “quarter pounder” hamburger does not weigh ¼ lbs. before cooking.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Any food is misbranded if its labeling is false or misleading, or if it is not labeled according to law [§114087, §114089, §114089.1(a-b), §114090, §114093.1, §114379-114379.60]
