The County of San Diego promotes and honors our great region's diverse culture and history. From our world-class beaches to the majestic mountains and deserts to the east, our geography is as diverse as the population that calls San Diego County home.
Our goal is to have our workforce diversity directly reflect the diversity of the community we serve, thus strengthening our focus on customer experience. We have enclosed detailed views of our workforce's race and ethnic composition across the different levels of our organization and compared it to the 2020 Census San Diego labor force data. We know race and ethnicity are complex, dynamic social constructs and all groups are not available in this reporting. We look forward to a future where the data are better able to reflect the true diversity of our workforce.
We know diversity comes in many forms and look forward to our continued journey of connection and discovery. A path that will transverse from more representative language to increased opportunities for transparency and innovation. These actions align us to strengthen our community relationships and provide world-class service for our 3.3 million residents.

Our method for developing Diversity and Inclusion data for this report remains consistent with our previous practices of collecting self-reported demographic information from employees (race/ethnicity, gender, and veteran status). Further analysis of this data is conducted to understand the workforce, identify areas for improvement, and measure the impact of Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
