County Human Resources is committed to providing and retaining a skilled, adaptable, and diverse workforce for County departments. Human Resources collaborates to develop and administer programs designed to cultivate and support the employer-employee relationship so they may deliver superior services to the residents and visitors of the County of San Diego.
Equity, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to the overall employee experience, playing a critical role in every aspect of human resources. The County’s Human Resources’ Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (DHR EDI) division helps emphasize this importance further. DHR EDI leads several key initiatives, including Diversity and Inclusion Champions, the Neurodivergent Excellence Program, and diversity and inclusion partnership events.
Highlights include:
Collaborating with internal and external partners to create engagement and skills development opportunities in equity, diversity and inclusion.
Creating mentorship opportunities with the Employee Resource Group (ERG) Council through an informal mentorship series titled “ERG Fireside Chats.”
Managing Jay’s Program internships, providing meaningful work experience for interns with neurological and developmental disabilities.
Additionally, DHR EDI facilitates opportunities for County employees to share their voices on specific topics, distributes an internal quarterly newsletter, communicates various diversity and inclusion topics throughout the organization, and prepares the County’s Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report.
