Joan Bracci

Joan Bracci serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the County of San Diego.

She provides oversight and monitors the County’s fiscal and financial actives, including long-term resource planning, development and monitoring of the County’s $8.5 billion budget, oversight of the debt portfolio, and financial reporting.

Joan joined the County in 2008, and prior to serving as the County’s Chief Financial Officer, she served as the Interim Deputy Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Operations Officer for the Finance and General Government Group, facilitating the day-to-day business of FG3, and supporting a team of professionals to lead enterprise wide initiatives and efforts and implement County policies that support a just, sustainable and resilient future for all.

Joan has also held positions managing the Office of Financial Planning and the County’s debt portfolio and investor relations. During her tenure in these positions she led teams of finance and policy professionals to provide quantitative and policy analysis to support the County with resource allocation and other operational decisions. Joan has a demonstrated history of supporting great teams, within challenging and dynamic environments, to do great things while making space for everyone and appreciating the joy of public service.

Joan holds a masters degree in philosophy from University College London and bachelors degrees in philosophy and psychology and social behavior from University of California at Irvine.
