Susan Brazeau
Susan Brazeau was appointed by the Chief Administrative Officer as the Human Resources Director on March 28, 2014 and administers the County’s Human Resource Department and its several component divisions.
Susan joined the County of San Diego in October of 2002 as a Labor Relations Officer. She was promoted to Senior Labor Relations Officer in April of 2005 and became the Labor Relations Manager in October of 2005. Susan promoted to Deputy Director of Human Resources in November of 2011. Prior to joining the County in 2002, Susan had over 8 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, including representing unions and management in labor relations. She has negotiated over 200 collective bargaining agreements and has participated in numerous arbitration and administrative hearings. She was also an adjunct instructor at Lake Superior State University where she taught both Labor Law and Collective Bargaining classes.
Susan has a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and a J.D. Degree from California Western School of Law. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA), California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA), National Public Employers Labor Relations Association (NPELRA) and the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA) and the Society for Human Resources (SHRM).
