  • Mental Health Outpatient Services

    Mental health outpatient programs offer treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery care for people of all ages who are managing a variety of ongoing mental health conditions which may also include substance use conditions. Services are tailored to the needs of each person with appointments taking place in an office setting or in the community at the person’s preferred location.

  • Substance Use Outpatient Services

    Substance use outpatient programs provide community-based intervention, treatment, and recovery care for people seeking help for a substance use condition. A range of services are available for all ages, including specialized programs for pregnant and parenting women, youth and adolescents, and people with justice involvement.

  • Behavioral Health Support Services

    Behavioral health support services promote the recovery, rehabilitation, and wellness goals for people who are living with behavioral health conditions and the families who support them. Services in this category are not a replacement for treatment but may complement and enhance treatment plans for those who have them.

  • Housing Supports

    While all Behavioral Health Services programs will connect clients to shelter and housing if this is an identified need, the resources listed below can help people who have a mental health or substance use conditions find shared-housing options.

    For general housing resources offered by the County of San Diego, please visit Housing and Community Development Services or 211 San Diego. Additionally, the BHS Five-Year Strategic Housing Plan outlines current efforts that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to prioritize housing opportunities for all people with behavioral health challenges.

    CHIP Independent Living Association (ILA)

    Independent livings are privately-owned or operated homes or complexes that provide shared housing for adults with disabilities, including mental illness, and others who may benefit from a shared living environment. The ILA is a voluntary membership organization for independent living home operators. The ILA maintains an online directory, provides education to operators and the community, and monitors quality standards for member operators.

    • To find an available independent living home that is a member of the ILA, use the search function on their online directory. Contact the independent living home directly using the contact information listed.
       

    CHIP Recovery Residence Association (RRA)

    Recovery residences are privately-owned homes or complexes that provide housing for adults with a substance use disorder or co-occurring disorder who are currently receiving outpatient SUD services or are enrolled in recovery services. The RRA is a voluntary membership organization for recovery residence operators. The RRA maintains an online directory, provides education to operators and the community, and monitors quality standards for member operators.
