TBEI Community of Practice
The goal of the TBEI Community of Practice is to move San Diego County forward in implementing Latent TB Infection (LTBI) Care Cascade best practices.
The LTBI Care cascade is a public health model outlining discrete steps in diagnosis and treatment for latent TB infection. Attrition in the LTBI care cascade highlights opportunities for intervention and provides data to evaluate the impact of quality improvement efforts.

Members
The TB Elimination Initiative Community of Practice convenes TB prevention champions, including: primary care, infectious disease and pulmonary providers, epidemiologists, quality leads, health systems, health plans, universities, and state and local health departments serving communities impacted by TB.
Members are invited to be role models for other county organizations to promote LTBI best practices and begin to adopt the proposed LTBI care cascade interventions.
Strategic Priorities
Community of Practice members are encouraged to:
- Educate and inspire wider adoption of the LTBI care cascade within your clinics and to other providers throughout the County.
- Set individual goals
for your clinic.
- Be early adopters – try out interventions and report back learnings to CoP (barriers, solutions, limitations, successes).
- Share rough baseline data from the LTBI care cascade (if possible).
- Meet quarterly to share and learn about LTBI practices and measurement.
Meetings
The Community of Practice meets quarterly.
