Notice of TRUTH Act Forum

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN  that on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in Room 310, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101, a public TRUTH Act Community Forum will be held, during a Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors, pursuant to Government Code section 7283.1(d). The purpose of the Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (“TRUTH”) Act Community Forum is to provide information regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) access to individuals and to receive and consider public comment, pursuant to Government Code Sections 7283 and 7283.1.

Those wishing to comment may either appear in person or virtually at the public forum or submit written comments, which must be received by the County prior to the forum. Written comments should be sent to the CLERK OF THE BOARD, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101, or may be submitted online through the Clerk of the Board’s eComment system at www.sandiegocounty.gov/ecomment following the posting of the meeting agenda. Those wishing to participate in the meeting virtually should visit www.sandiegocounty.gov/telecomments for information on how to do so.

Spanish interpretation will be provided during the TRUTH Act Community Forum. Interpreters can also be available for simultaneous interpretation in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese. Residents who require interpretation must contact the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at (619) 531-5434 by May 14, 2024, so that an interpreter can be available during the forum.

After the Forum’s presentation, the Sheriff will respond to questions from the public submitted through a Google form.

This public hearing is accessible to individuals with disabilities. If interpreter services for the hearing impaired are needed, please call the County’s Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator at (619) 531-4908, or California Relay Service, if notifying by TDD, no later than five days prior to the date of the hearing.
