Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Volunteers, age 50+, engage in community activities and give back to the community in significant ways. They receive assistance to find the volunteer activity that best meets their goals in volunteering. Volunteer positions are available throughout the County in many areas, such as museums, parks, law enforcement and human services.

Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
The Clerk of the Board department is looking for volunteers to assist with taking passport photos. Your job will be to take photos of customers that are applying for a passport, ensuring their photo meets the requirements of the Department of State. The department is looking for someone to assist during busy customer periods from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., particularly on Thursdays and Fridays.

HHSA Live Well San Diego
The Live Well San Diego Support Team creates innovative and strategic solutions with our partners to foster healthy, safe, and thriving communities. Guided by a collective impact model, we support the region’s diverse communities and County staff with tools and resources that advance the Live Well San Diego vision and promote equitable outcomes for all.
We recruit volunteers as needed to support our work. There are
various opportunities in the following fields: public health,
communications, data, event planning, health promotion, collective
impact, and community engagement within the following sectors:
business, education, community and faith-based organizations, rural
communities, and youth.

Department of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Department of Homeless
Solutions and Equitable Community (HSEC), is home to the Office of
Homeless Solutions, Office of Equitable Communities, and the Office of
Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. Through these three offices, we work
collectively to ensure equity among all San Diegans, foster a
community that is welcoming to new residents and reduce homelessness
in the region. We can provide volunteer opportunities through
community outreach, program specific events and providing resources to
our underserved communities, as well as, special projects and
administrative duties.

Medical Examiner
The Medical Examiner Department’s volunteers assist with the administrative and clerical divisions in the department. The objective of the volunteer program is to have volunteers obtain experience working in a high paced professional setting and use the experience to assist with future employment. All of our volunteers must be over the age of 18 and will have to complete background and medical requirements.

Emergency Management
Volunteers help research, draft, review, and update disaster plans and procedures. Volunteers also help work on initiatives to increase community disaster preparedness, as well as assist staff on specific projects.

Parks & Recreation
Our award-winning park system features 154 facilities across 56,000 acres of land, including parks, camping parks, sports parks, community and teen centers, open-space preserves, nature centers, and historic sites. Some 380 miles of trails take visitors through multiple climates and habitats - from the coast to the desert and the valleys to the mountains.
That is a lot of outside! To maintain, operate, and enjoy these incredible locations, we engage local community members who volunteer their time so everyone can experience “the upside of outside” throughout San Diego County!
