Annual Inspection or Verification


The County of San Diego is required to verify that the BMPs on your property are properly maintained and functioning effectively. To do this, the County will either schedule an onsite inspection or request a verification.
 

High Priority Inspections

For high-priority BMP sites, a County representative will contact you annually to schedule an onsite inspection. Failure to maintain your BMPs properly may result in an enforcement investigation or a follow-up inspection by a County representative.
 

Structural BMP Verification

The County of San Diego is required to verify that the BMPs on your property are properly maintained and functioning effectively. To do this, the County will either request a verification or sched. The Watershed Protection Program will send you an annual letter providing general guidance on how to inspect and maintain your BMPs. You can submit your BMP verification through the Self-Verification Portal or via email.


In accordance with
Section 67.812(b) of the County Code of Regulations, if property owners do not respond to the notification to verify maintenance of their stormwater structural BMPs, the County may initiate an enforcement investigation or follow-up inspection.
