  • What is the facility like?

Edgemoor is located in East San Diego County within a residential neighborhood in Santee, California. It is close to the San Diego River and community parks.

Edgemoor opened in 2009 as a modern two-story facility accommodating 192 residents. It is a restraint-free facility, meaning that residents are not placed in physical restraints that inhibit their freedom of movement. Residents are accommodated in 32-bed “neighborhoods” within the facility, each of which acts as a separate community.

Within each neighborhood is a greatroom where residents gather to participate in activities, share meals and socialize. The nursing station is open and accessible. Windows throughout the facility let in natural light and overlook landscaped courtyards. Edgemoor has an outdoor exercise circuit for residents in wheelchairs, a therapy gym, and resident gardens.

  • Do residents have private rooms?

Most resident rooms are considered semi-private because they share a restroom with other residents in their pod, however, the resident’s actual room is in a “private” space from other residents. Each room has an individual flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and furniture designed for use by those with disabilities.
