Mobile Apps
While there are many more available for consideration, these apps can
be helpful for people experiencing anxiety including children and
adolescents. They should be used alongside comprehensive assessment
and treatment from a trained behavioral health professional.
All of these apps are currently highly rated and free to download at the Apple App Store (for iOS and iPadOS) or Google Play Store (for Android), however most require monthly or yearly subscriptions to use some or all of the in-app features.
Resources
Break free from anxiety and stress using this free evidence-based anxiety management app. MindShift CBT uses scientifically proven strategies based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Provides various meditation to help support habit changes, reduce stress, promote relaxation and improve sleep quality. Includes a section specifically for youth.
Provides guided meditation and mindfulness practices for both children and adults. It features a library of mindfulness tracks specifically for children and beginners, with targeted practices for everything from stress and sleep to relationships and gratitude.
Provides a therapist-approved panic button, guided deep breathing, an anxiety journal, soothing visualizations, stats page, emergency contact, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help retrain the mind into positive behavioral strategies for coping when anxiety strikes.
What’s Up? A Mental Health App for iOS (for Android)
Uses techniques from CBT and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to manage intense feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress. Features a comprehensive diary to log daily moods and habits, along with a feelings tracker to rate emotions.
The way you experience and express anxiety can be different based on your cultural background. Founded by two women of color on a mission to make taking care of one’s mental health easier, more representative, and more accessible. Shine provides a space for daily self-care. The app offers meditation practices, podcasts, an audio library, and community forums, so one can work on managing your anxiety alone or with the support of others who have a similar background.

Uses audio recordings to help people identify their worries and face their fears, instead of retreating from them.
uMore – Mental Health Tracker for iOS (for Android)
Supports emotional well-being with a stress checker and stress monitor. Also comes with a well-being index, mood chart, and feelings tracker to provide support in the daily management of mental health.
Includes science-based activities and games to help reduce stress, overcome negative thoughts, and build greater resilience by providing effective tools and programs to improve emotional well-being. Drawing from positive psychology, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior change is at the core of this app.

Building on the adult coloring book trend this art and coloring app to help promote relaxation and the reduction of everyday stressors.
AntiStress Anxiety Relief Game for iOS (for Android)
Provides more than a dozen games built to distract from anxiety. Games allow users moments of respite and relief from anxiety.
