How to Get Tested
Order your free COVID-19 Tests
- U.S. households can order 4 free COVID-19 tests at COVIDTests.gov. The COVID-19 Tests will detect current COVID-19 variants and can be used through the end of the year.
If You Have Medi-Cal
- You can get free test kits if you have Medi-Cal. Each person with a Medi-Cal card can receive up to 8 free tests each month.
- Go to a pharmacy or a store with a pharmacy.
- Go to the pharmacy counter where prescriptions are dropped off. Other registers in the store cannot provide free COVID-19 tests.
- Show your Medi-Cal card(s) and ask for 8 at-home COVID-19 antigen tests for each person.
Buy Test Kits Online, In Pharmacies, and/or Retail Stores
- If you have private insurance, Medicare, or Medicare Advantage, most California insurance plans will pay or reimburse (pay you back) for 8 at-home tests per month. Contact your provider for more information.
