The Housing Authority of the County of San Diego administers several publicly-owned rental housing units within San Diego County. These rental units are available to low-income families, senior citizens, and disabled persons.
2-1-1 San Diego - Inclement Weather Program (IWP)
People experiencing homelessness are at a higher risk of developing health issues like hypothermia, frostbite, heat stroke, and other health hazards during inclement weather. They can be life-threatening if exposed to the elements for a prolonged period.
- The Inclement Weather Program (IWP) was created to provide additional shelter services through hotel/motel vouchers during periods of inclement weather.
- Unsheltered clients residing within the County of San Diego's unincorporated area can obtain a hotel/motel voucher by calling 2-1-1 San Diego when the IWP is activated.
- The hotel/motel vouchers are assigned to clients on a first-come, first-served basis.
