This page is meant to aid contractors in complying with contract requirements for the different types of insurance.

There are six types of insurance that may be required of HHSA contractors. Also, documentation that the County of San Diego is named as an additional insured and a waiver of subrogation is required. Dollar limits are specified in the individual contracts. Documentation must be provided to Agency Contract Support (ACS). These documents must be kept current as long as the contractor does business with the County of San Diego.

General Liability Insurance - This is required of every contractor. See contract for specific limits required.

General Liability (Additional Insured) - All contractors are required to name the County of San Diego as additional insured and a copy of an "Additional Insured endorsement" from the insurance company must be provided.

Automobile Insurance - Required of all contractors. See contract for specific limits required.

Workers Compensation Insurance - This is not required of sole proprietors. It is required of all other contractors.

Waiver of Subrogation - Contractors needing Workers Compensation insurance are required to provide this waiver. This endorsement states the insurance company won't come after the County of San Diego to recoup losses.

Professional Liability Insurance - This is required of contractors providing professional services such as counseling or medical.

Sexual Misconduct Insurance - This is required of contractors providing direct services to minors.

Crime Insurance/Fidelity Bond - This is required if the contractor has direct access to County of San Diego funds or to computer systems that would allow manipulation of County funds.
