San Diego County Administration Center History

The San Diego County Administration Center, was completed in 1938 by the federal Works Progress Administration and dedicated on July 17, 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was designed by architects Samuel Wood Hamill, William Templeton Johnson, Richard Requa, and Louis John Gill. Intended to complement Balboa Park structures, the architecture is Spanish Revival in style with a strong Beaux Arts classical influence. 

The building is home to several historic works of art by local artists from the 1930s. The San Diego County Administration Center serves as the seat of county government and is located at 1600 Pacific Highway in San Diego, California. National Register of Historic Places, San Diego County Administration Center, San Diego, California, National Register #880005544
