Design Engineering
The Design Engineering Section has about 39 staff members responsible for the preparation of plans and specifications necessary to successfully construct the various types of infrastructure improvements within San Diego County.
Assignments begin with preliminary
engineering evaluations, where various parts of a project are
evaluated and the priority of the project is assigned based on its
benefit to the taxpayer. The process ends in the award of a
construction project to the lowest responsible bidder.
Project
types include road improvements, stormwater collection/conveyance
systems, bridges, airport improvements and other miscellaneous assignments.
In addition, all consultant/construction contracts are solicited and awarded through this section. Staff also support the Construction Engineering Section, which monitors contractor compliance during the construction phase of all projects.
