Become a Master Composter! Join the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation on Saturdays, March 14 - April 11 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. to gain in-depth composting knowledge to expand your sustainable gardening practices. You can earn a certificate of completion after attending all five weeks, then go on to receive the Master Composter certification and badge after completing the additional requirements! Meet new people in this fun, hands-on course! Class size is limited. The course will be held at Palomares House (1815 South Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook, CA, 92028).

Join the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation on Saturday, March 28th from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. for a FREE workshop in Ramona to discover how composting manure can cut hauling costs, prevent weed growth, and prevent soil loss and erosion. The workshop will also cover the details of the County's updated zoning and permitting requirements. The workshop will be held at the International Equestrian Center (16911 Gunn Stage Rd, Ramona, CA 92065).

Please join us Saturday, April 4, 2026, for the Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection Event for Unincorporated San Diego County residents at the Valley Center Road Station (28565 Cole Grade Rd., Valley Center, CA 92082) from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. or until capacity is reached.
*The entrance to the event will be along Valley Center Rd.*
Unincorporated area residents are invited to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic waste. Household Hazardous Waste includes but is not limited to batteries, cellphones, printers, computers, motor fluids, oils, household cleaners and other chemicals, LED & fluorescent light bulbs, and paint (see flyer for list of all accepted items).
**Please note tires, bulky items, mattresses, green waste, and hazardous waste from businesses or incorporated City residents will NOT be allowed.

It’s the perfect time to get your spring projects underway! Pick up FREE MULCH at Portero County Park (24800 Potrero Park Dr., Potrero, CA 91963) on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or while supplies last). Mulch is a great way to nourish your soil, conserve water, and give your landscaping a boost. This is a self-loading event, so be sure to bring your own tools, tarps, and containers.

Please join us in Warner Springs on Saturday, April 25, 2026, for the Unincorporated San Diego Residential Cleanup Event at Warner Springs Community Center (30950 CA-79, Warner Springs, CA 92086) from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. or until capacity is reached. The event will also include FREE mulch for self-loading collection and Goodwill will be accepting reusable items for donation. No paper shredding services will be available.
Lines are typically longest in the first hour.
Unincorporated residents are invited to properly dispose of:
- Bulky items
- Electronic waste
- Broken appliances
- Water heaters
- Recyclable materials
- Green waste
- Mattresses and box springs
- Scrap metal
- Tires (up to 9 passenger tires per vehicle). Please call 1-877-713-2784 to request preapproval for loads of more than 9 tires. No tires with rims will be accepted. No tires from businesses.
**NOT ACCEPTED: Household Hazardous Waste (this includes, but is not limited to, batteries, paint, lightbulbs, car oil/antifreeze, household cleaners, etc.), construction materials, and business waste. Waste from other jurisdictions or commercial businesses -- This event is open to Unincorporated County of San Diego residents only.
