Yard Trimmings

Yard trimmings include leaves, grass clippings, small branches and tree limbs, seeds, untreated/unpainted wood and lumber, tree roots, flowers, whole plants, and straw. Learn the Yes and No's of yard trimming recycling below:

YES - DO place these in the Organics Bin:

  • Wooden popsicle sticks
  • Sawdust
  • Wooden toothpicks
  • Wooden chopsticks

NO - DO NOT place these in the Organics Bin:

  • Treated or painted lumber
  • Tree stumps
  • Wine corks
  • Plastic or compostable plastic bags

Helpful Tips:

  • Place yard trimmings in your organic waste bin first and then add food scraps and food-soiled paper on top to absorb any moisture.
