Proper Disposal of Residential Pharmaceuticals
Recent reports of drug compounds in the environment highlight the need for alternatives to flushing unwanted medication. The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) is developing model programs for the collection and disposal of home-generated pharmaceutical waste. Until an approved model has been developed, the Department of Public Works recommends that households dispose of expired and unwanted medications following the guidelines of the U.S. Office of National Drug Policy at: http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/publications/pdf/prescrip_disposal.pdf
