Drain Inserts
Drain insert BMPs help protect our local waterways by capturing trash and debris before they enter the storm drain system.
As water flows through the insert filter, larger debris is captured
and stored until it is removed during maintenance. These inserts are
commonly installed within storm drain inlets throughout the
County.
Benefits
Drain Inserts may offer the following benefits:
- Capture sediment, trash, and debris
- Can be easily accessed for inspection and maintenance
What does your BMP look like?
Typical drain inserts include manufactured filters, fabrics, or screens that are placed in inlets to capture trash and debris.
The shape and configuration of drain inserts vary based on inlet
type and configuration.
Target Pollutants
- Sediment (soils particles, road dust, gravel, sand, etc.)
- Debris
- Trash
