Erin Chancler, Administrator
Ms. Chancler has been a licensed
Administrator since 1999 and joined the Edgemoor team in December
2018. Ms. Chancler has served as the Administrator at several skilled
nursing facilities in San Diego and Northern California. Ms. Chancler
has extensive experience in facility management, regulatory
compliance, and clinical excellence. She currently serves as the
Secretary and Treasurer of the San Diego Chapter of the California
Association of Health Facilities (CAHF), is a member of the American
Health Care Association Not-for-Profit Council, and is an active
participant in the California Hospital Association Post-Acute Care
Workgroup. Ms. Chancler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from
UC Santa Barbara.
Darren Kasai, DHS, FACHE, FACHCA, Assistant Administrator
Mr. Kasai has over 20 years of healthcare administration experience
across the continuum of care and joined the Edgemoor team in February
2023. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives
and the American College of Health Care Administrators. He earned a
Doctor of Health Science from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy
and Health Sciences, a Master of Health Administration from the
University of Southern California, and a Master of Leadership Studies
from the University of San Diego.
Rebecca Ferrini, MD, MPH, CMD, Medical Director
Dr. Rebecca Ferrini has been the full-time Medical Director at
Edgemoor since 2000 and holds Board Certifications in General
Preventive Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and a
Certified Medical Director Certification from the American Medical
Director's Association (AMDA). She cares for patients at Edgemoor with
two other Board-Certified Physicians. She was honored in 2009 as the
AMDA Medical Director of the Year for her role in improving the
quality of care at the facility. She was the lead author on the
toolkit on Managing Younger Adults in Long Term Care for which she was
awarded the 2013 AMDA Clinical Practice Committee Volunteer of the
Year. In 2019, she was honored by California Association of Long Term
Care Medicine with their statewide Leadership Award. She publishes and
speaks on topics related to consent and capacity, quality improvement
and lean systems, risk mitigation, difficult patient populations,
Huntington's Disease, and behavioral management. Dr. Ferrini is
passionate about quality and creating a therapeutic environment for
healing.
Merlyn Trinidad, RN-BSN, Director of Nursing
Merlyn Trinidad, RN-BSN, has chosen Long Term Care as her field of
practice for the past 25 years and has more than 20 years of
experience in nursing administration. In 2018, she was honored as both
the CAHF Nurse of the Year and the Philippine Nurses Association of
San Diego (PNASD) Nurse Administrator of the Year. Ms. Trinidad has
worked as a Supervisory Nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing since
2012 before taking the Director's position in 2016. Ms. Trinidad
oversees the nursing operations and functions of over 200 nurses at
Edgemoor and works with all other disciplines to ensure resident care
meets the highest standards. She is an active member in the National
Association Directors of Nursing Administration (NADONA). Ms. Trinidad
is hands-on and management-oriented, with an emphasis on staff
consistency and retention. She is committed to excellence and the
education of current and future nurses who will be working in Long
Term Care.
