Purpose: The CHDP Treatment and Reimbursement (CHDP-TR) Program provides reimbursement for diagnosis and treatment of certain medical and dental conditions detected during CHDP well-child screening exams for children who have no other health care resources.

Services

CHDP-TR will pay for diagnosis and treatment of certain medical and dental conditions found during the CHDP well-child screening exam. The program will pay for services rendered to children birth through 18 years old (under 19) who reside in San Diego County are:

  • Determined "eligible for CHDP services only" through the CHDP Gateway pre-enrollment process
  • Not eligible for Medi-Cal without a share of cost or eligible for Medi-Cal with a share of cost and elect CHDP-TR coverage instead of Medi-Cal
  • Not eligible for treatment from any other source such as California Children's Services (CCS), Regional Center, private insurance, Head Start, or other public program
  • Referred by the CHDP primary care provider for services

TR payment is considered payment in full and providers may not request additional payments from the family.
