What is CalFresh?
CalFresh, also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) throughout the United States, is a program that provides low income households with monthly benefits to buy food. CalFresh benefits can help supplement the food budget of a household allowing them to buy more nutritious foods. Eligibility to CalFresh and the amount of benefits a household may receive depends on the household's size, income, and expenses.
CalFresh benefits are provided on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card and can be used to buy food at participating grocery stores, online stores, and farmers markets.
