Fees

California Law authorizes the County’s Board of Supervisors to establish fees for certain Medical Examiner services. The fees quoted below were approved by the Board of Supervisors on June 14, 2011, to recover only the costs of the services with no markup.

Mandatory Services.

There are no fees for the transport or examination of a body in cases where the Medical Examiner's Office has taken jurisdcition. 

Optional Services.

The fee for an autopsy performed at the request of the next-of-kin and not required for our official purposes, is $4,876.20. Copies of reports are provided at the rate of $1.60 per page.
