Self-Certification Program: Minor Traffic Control

The County of San Diego allows for minor traffic control, with certain restrictions, to be done under the self-certification process. The full list of requirements can be found in the Rules handout.

Eligible Projects Projects Not Eligible
  • Traffic control with no lane closures
  • Traffic control with shoulder closure
  • Traffic control with sidewalk closure
  • Traffic control follows San Diego Regional Standard Drawings TCP-01, TCP-02A, TCP-02B, TCP-03, TCP-04, TCP-05A, and TCP-05B, and the following:
    - For driveways: TCP-06, TCP-07A, TCP-07C
    - For sidewalks: TCP-52
Submittal does not require a registered professional, but projects must have a registered CA contractor associated with the project
  • Traffic control requiring lane closures
  • Traffic control affecting more than just one street
  • Traffic control affecting other jurisdictions
  • Projects that have a bus route / bus stop within the work zone
