General Plan and Community Plans

The General Plan and Community Plans section within the Long Range Planning division maintains the General Plan and develops community plans for specific geographic areas. Community plans are tools utilized to implement the General Plan and provide more site-specific policy recommendations that address concerns of the community. Together, the General Plan and community plans seek to provide the framework for future growth and development in the County

Community Planning and Sponsor Groups have an important role in the community planning process. Their purpose is to make recommendations that reflect their community’s vision to County decision makers, advise plans for new projects or developments and provide a public forum where community input is welcomed.

This section is driven by the County’s vision of the future and preservation of existing communities, agricultural areas, and open spaces. These values inform the responsibilities for ensuring consistency between the General Plan and community's land use policies and infrastructure strategies.

Through these efforts and collaboration with stakeholders, the Section supports the goal of the Long Range Planning division to capture the vision of the County’s future growth and outline the steps necessary to serve the general welfare of the public.
