Landscaping with native plants supports biodiversity in urban areas, promotes water conservation, and can contribute to our natural environment's resilience to climate change impacts. By creating habitats for native animals, birds, and insects, we can support local ecosystems and contribute to their long-term health. Encouraging the use of native plants in landscaping also bolsters local demand for native plant products and professional services, benefiting the regional economy.
On December 14, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved the multi-year Native Landscape Program and the implementation of Phase I through Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
