How to Request to Speak at a Board Meeting

The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is launching a new way to request to speak at Board of Supervisors meetings. The new system will launch April 2 for the April 8-9 Board of Supervisors meeting.
To support a smooth transition, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is hosting informational webinars to demonstrate the system and answer questions:
- Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. (Register for the Webinar)
- Monday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. (Register for the Webinar)
- Monday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. (Register for the Webinar)
Follow these instructions to request to speak at a meeting.
How to Sign up to Speak

1. Go to https://PublicComment.SanDiegoCounty.gov

If you need the information translated in a different language, click the Translate button at the top of the page and select your preferred language.

2. Click the meeting.
You'll click on the meeting you want to speak at.

3. Click Register.
Click Register or click View Page for more details.

5. Fill in your details.
A phone number is required if speaking by phone. All the other fields are optional.

6. Choose how you want to provide your comments.
Choosing In Person means you intend to be physically present at the meeting. Choosing Virtually means you intend to call in to provide comments.
If you need a Spanish interpreter for your comments select, Yes (I need a interpreter).

7. Select the agenda items you want to comment on and whether you are
for (in favor) or against (in opposition) the agenda item's recommendations.
To review the recommendations, view the agenda materials online.

8. Click Register.
You'll receive an e-mail confirmation, making it easy to stay informed and ready for your turn to speak.
At the Meeting
Before public comment begins on the agenda item:

In Person: Check in with the Deputy Clerk to let them know you have arrived. When your name is called, line up on the arrows behind the podium until it is your turn to speak. The timer on the podium tells you how much time you have remaining.

By Phone: Dial in to the conference line using the instructions in the e-mail reminder. You'll be notified when you are next in line to speak. When it is your turn to speak, begin your comments after the prompt.
