California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) San Diego
On April 25, 2022, the County of San Diego successfully transitioned to and launched the California Immunization Registry (CAIR2). CAIR2 provides a central location for healthcare providers and other approved entities to record and access a person’s immunizations. This includes documenting one’s complete immunization data and Tuberculosis test history; forecasting the immunizations that are due, and generating official patient/student immunization documentation. In addition, CAIR2 can help immunization providers manage their vaccine inventory, generate practice-level immunization reports, and conduct reminder/recall activities. This system plays an important role in immunization program management and implementation by improving the quality of immunization data and enhancing accountability and stewardship of public vaccine resources.

Digital Vaccine Record (DVR) Portal
The Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record (DCVR) has been in place and utilized by Californians since 2021, allowing convenient access to one’s personal COVID-19 vaccine record. The California Department of Public Health recently announced the expansion of the DCVR to include all vaccines, thereby providing digital access to one’s immunization record from the California Immunization Registry (CAIR). This new Digital Vaccine Record (DVR) portal gives California residents easy access to their immunization history.
Healthcare Providers can help by submitting historical doses for their patients to CAIR. This will ensure access to a more complete immunization history and reduce the number of requests that providers receive from patients seeking their immunization records. If you are a CAIR data exchange participant, consult with one of our Data Exchange Specialists at CAIRDataExchange@cdph.ca.gov about submitting historical doses for your active patients.
