There are many ways to stay up-to-date on your vaccines. You can ask your doctor, pharmacist, or community health center. If you do not have a healthcare provider, contact 2-1-1.

County of San Diego Public Health Centers

Eligible individuals may get immunization services at a County Public Health Center.

Call ahead to confirm hours of operation, vaccines available, or questions about eligibility.

Eligibility

Who can get immunizations at County Public Health Centers:

  • Children and adults who do not have health insurance.
  • Children and adults whose health insurance does not include vaccines.
  • Persons 0-18 years who are Alaskan Native or American Indian.
  • Persons 0-18 years who have Medi-Cal or are Medi-Cal eligible.
  • Persons 6 months and older in need of influenza (flu) vaccine regardless of health coverage.

If your insurance covers vaccines, you cannot get immunizations at County Public Health Centers. It does not matter if you have co-pays or deductibles. 

Vaccines Available

Routine Childhood Vaccines:

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (DTaP/Tdap)
  • Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (Hib)
  • Hepatitis A (Hep A)
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)
  • Human Papilloma virus (HPV)
  • Pneumococcal Diseases (PCV15, PCV20, PPSV23)
  • Polio (IPV)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY)
  • Meningococcal B (MenB)
  • Rotavirus (RV) 
  • Varicella (VAR)

Routine Adult Vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A (Hep A)
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY)
  • Pneumococcal Diseases (PCV15, PCV20, PCV23)
  • Tetanus (Td)
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap)
  • Varicella
  • Zoster (Shingles) (Shingrix)

Travel Vaccines

  • County Public Health Centers do not provide the vaccines needed for travel.
  • Check immunization requirements and recommendations for places you plan to travel. See Travel Vaccines for more information.

In-Home Vaccination

  • If you, or someone you know, is homebound and would like to get the COVID-19 and/or flu vaccine(s) at home, contact the Homebound Vaccine Program:
  • A representative will call you back. Have these ready: 
    • Name (First, Last),
    • Date of Birth,
    • Address,
    • Schedule Preferences (Date and Time),
    • If you are requesting COVID-19 and/or flu vaccine

  • This service is available at no-cost for San Diego County residents who have difficulty leaving their home. This includes needing the help of another person, or medical equipment, to leave their home.
  • Members of your household may also get a vaccine at the time of appointment.

Flu Vaccination Events

  • Flu vaccine events include one-day or temporary locations providing no-cost flu shots in the community for everyone 6 months and older.
