There are many ways to stay up-to-date on your vaccines including asking your doctor, pharmacist, or community health center. If you do not have a healthcare provider, contact 2-1-1.

Retail Pharmacies

County of San Diego Public Health Centers

Eligible individuals may receive immunization services at a County Public Health Center.

Please call ahead to confirm hours of operation, which vaccines are offered at your preferred location, or if you have any questions about eligibility.

Eligibility

The following are eligible to receive immunizations at County Public Health Centers:

  • Children and adults who do not have health insurance.
  • Children and adults whose health insurance does not include vaccines.
  • Persons 0-18 years who are Alaskan Native or American Indian.
  • Persons 0-18 years who have Medi-Cal or are Medi-Cal eligible.
  • Persons 6 months and older in need of influenza (flu) vaccine regardless of health coverage.

Individuals are not eligible for immunizations at County Public Health Centers if their insurance includes vaccination coverage, even if there are co-pays or deductibles. 

Vaccines Available

Routine Childhood Vaccines:

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (DTaP/Tdap)
  • Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (Hib)
  • Hepatitis A (Hep A)
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)
  • Human Papilloma virus (HPV)
  • Pneumococcal Diseases (PCV15, PCV20, PPSV23)
  • Polio (IPV)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY)
  • Meningococcal B (MenB)
  • Rotavirus (RV) 
  • Varicella (VAR)

Routine Adult Vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A (Hep A)
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY)
  • Pneumococcal Diseases (PCV15, PCV20, PCV23)
  • Tetanus (Td)
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap)
  • Varicella
  • Zoster (Shingles) (Shingrix)

Travel Vaccines

  • County Public Health Centers do not provide the vaccines needed for travel.
  • Please look over immunization requirements and/or recommendations for your travel itinerary. See Travel Vaccines for more information. 

In-Home Vaccination

  • If you, or someone you know, is homebound and would like to receive the updated COVID-19 and/or flu vaccine(s) at home, contact the Homebound Vaccine Program:
  • A representative will call you back. Please be prepared to share the following: 
    • Name (First, Last),
    • Date of Birth,
    • Address,
    • Schedule Preferences (Date and Time),
    • Requested Vaccine(s), and
    • Insurance information if receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Please note that health insurance is not required to receive a vaccine.
San Diego Homebound Vaccine Program Flyer
  • This service is available at no-cost for San Diego County residents who have difficulty leaving their home. This includes needing the help of another person, or medical equipment, to leave their home.
  • Members of your household may also receive a vaccine at the time of appointment.

Flu Vaccination Events

  • Flu vaccine events include one-day or temporary locations providing flu shots in the community. 
  • Information about flu vaccination events will be listed as it becomes available. Unless otherwise noted, all vaccination events offer free flu vaccines for everyone 6 months old and older.

  • See the list below for upcoming, no-cost, County sponsored community vaccine walk-up events (no appointment required). 
  • Vaccine supply may be limited and are available while supplies last.
