Project and Plan Review
Discretionary and Building Plan projects located in the following districts are reviewed by San Diego County Fire
- San Diego County Fire Protection District*
- Deer Springs Fire Protection District
If your project site is not located within one of these districts, you will need to submit your plans to the appropriate FAHJ (Fire Authority Having Jurisdiction).
* Includes the unincorporated communities of Borrego Springs, Boulevard, Campo, Deerhorn Valley, De Luz, Descanso, Dulzura, Harbison Canyon, Intermountain, Jacumba, Jamul, Julian, Lake Morena, Mount Laguna, Ocotillo Wells, Otay Mesa, Palomar Mountain, Pine Valley, Potrero, Ramona, Ranchita, San Pasqual, Shelter Valley, Sunshine Summit and Warner Springs.
Plan Submittal Requirements
Plans for residential and commercial building projects must be submitted to the County of San Diego Planning & Development Services Building Division and will be routed internally to our office.
- Residential Minor Grading Permits in conjunction with a residential building permit application are processed through the County of San Diego Planning & Development Services Building Division and will be routed internally to our office.
- Plans for Major and Minor Grading Permits, and Major, Minor and Public Improvement Plans are processed through the County of San Diego Planning & Development Services Land Development Division and will not be routed internally to our office. Contact the assigned Land Development Division staff to coordinate submission of plans for review.
Plans for these systems are submitted directly to San Diego County Fire Protection District as a deferred submittal as they are separate from building plans and can be submitted for review after building plans have been approved. To request completion of form PDS-399F complete the Owner’s Information and Section 1 of the form, then email the form and a Plot Plan for the project to the attention of David Sibbet, Fire Services Coordinator ( david.sibbet@sdcounty.ca.gov ).
Discretionary Projects are processed through the County of San Diego Planning & Development Services Project Planning Division. Submitted plans will be routed internally to our office.
