What’s Next for the Draft Climate Action Plan?
01/23/24
Thank you to everyone who submitted comments on the Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) through our Engagement Platform, email, and mail during the public review period. To spread the word about the documents and encourage feedback, we hosted several activities and attended various meetings during the public review period (October 26, 2023 to January 5, 2024).
This included a public workshop that covered the draft document contents and process for providing feedback. We also gave eight presentations on the Draft CAP and Draft SEIR to a variety of stakeholders. We responded to multiple meeting requests and held office hours at five library locations around the county to answer questions and share information.
Additionally, we hosted a table at events put on by other organizations and promoted this phase of the project through various online platforms to reach a wider audience. During the public review period we received 116 comments and 53 letters. We are now working diligently to review and analyze all comments and incorporate this feedback into the Final CAP and/or Final SEIR.
During Spring 2024, additional Draft CAP Appendices providing detailed information on CAP implementation will be available for public review, including an Equity Framework, Implementation Cost Analysis, and a Cost Benefit Analysis.
Once feedback has been processed, we plan to offer an updated presentation to all the County’s Community Planning and Sponsor Groups as another opportunity to answer questions and share information prior to the CAP being adopted. We will also present to the Planning Commission and ultimately the Board of Supervisors in Fall 2024 for CAP adoption.
