August 28, 2024

The fourth measles case of 2024 in San Diego County has been confirmed in a 13-month-old resident who had recently traveled overseas. This fourth case is not associated with the other three cases, but all are associated with international travel.

The unimmunized infant may have exposed others at the following locations:

  • Rady Grossmont Pediatric Unit located at 5555 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942, on August 20, from 12:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  
  • Rady Children’s Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit 4 East located at 3020 Children’s Way, San Diego, CA 92123, on August 25, from 2:15 p.m. to August 26 at 9:00 p.m.  

May 14, 2024

The third case of measles of 2024 in San Diego County has been confirmed in a 13-month-old resident who had recently traveled overseas. This third case is not associated with the other two cases, but all are associated with international travel. 

The unimmunized infant may have exposed others at the following locations:

  • Children's Primary Care Medical Group El Cajon, 844 Jackman St., El Cajon, CA 92020, on the following date and times: 5/12/24 from 9:10AM to 12:00PM.
  • Rady Children's Emergency Department, 3020 Children's Way, 1st Floor, San Diego, CA 92123, on the following date and times: 5/13/24 from 10:30AM to 12:45PM.

March 31, 2024

The second measles case of 2024 in San Diego County has been confirmed in a 47-year-old resident who had recently traveled overseas. This second case is not associated with the first case.

The adult is currently hospitalized, but may have exposed others at the following locations:

  • Naked Café, 288 N. El Camino Real, Suite C, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/22/24 from 9:00AM to 12:30PM.
  • Ralph’s Market, 125 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/22/24 from 10:30AM to 1:30PM and 3/25/24 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM.
  • Leo Mullen Sports Park, 951 Via Cantebria, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 03/23/24 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
  • Trader Joe’s, 115 N. Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/24/24 from 11:00AM to 1:30PM.
  • Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness, 1821 S. Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/24/24 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
  • Tinleaf Fresh Kitchen, 6985 El Camino Real #108, Carlsbad, CA 92009, on the following dates and times: 3/25/24 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
  • Scripps Coastal Medical Center Encinitas, 477 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/28/24 from 8:45AM to 11:30AM.
  • Scripps Encinitas Hospital Emergency Department, 354 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024, on the following dates and times: 3/29/24-3/30/24 from 4:10PM on 3/29/24 to 1:30AM on 3/30/24.

People with symptoms are asked to call their doctor’s office in advance, rather than visit an office directly, so that infection control measures may be activated to prevent exposure to others.

February 2, 2024

The first case of measles of 2024 in San Diego County has been confirmed in a 1-year-old resident who had recently traveled overseas. The last measles case was in 2019.

The unimmunized infant is currently hospitalized, but may have exposed others at the following locations:

  • Super China Buffett, 7984 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942, on the following date and times: 1/28/24 from 1:30PM to 5:00PM.
  • Hilton Head County Park, 1605 Hilton Head Road, El Cajon, CA 92019, on the following dates and times: 01/28/24 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.
  • Grossmont Pediatrics, 6942 University Ave A, La Mesa, CA 91942, on the following date and times: 01/31/24 from 9:00AM to 12:30PM and 2:00PM to 5:00PM.
  • Rady Children’s Emergency Department, 3020 Children’s Way, 1st Floor, San Diego, CA 92123, on the following date and times: 2/01/24 from 9:20AM to 4:30PM.
