Diseases can spread in school settings in many ways, like sharing objects, having close contact with others, and getting too close to wild animals. Some steps to prevent diseases in schools include:

  • Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting,
  • Handwashing,
  • Taking steps for cleaner air,
  • Staying home when sick,
  • Safely handling pets and animals, and
  • Assuring vaccinations are up-to-date.

You can find more information on the following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention webpages: Everyday Actions for Schools to Prevent and Control the Spread of Infections and Wildlife.
