What is it?

Herpes Simplex Virus-1 (HSV-1) is also known as oral herpes, "cold sores," or fever blisters. Herpes spreads very easily. Most people carry herpes germs.   • Suggested message: You may feel tingles or burning on your lips and gums before you see a herpes sore. The sooner you start treating the herpes, the less time you will have sores.   • Suggested message: Worldwide, about 90% of all people have Herpes Simplex 1. In the US, 65% have herpes antibodies. This means that even if they do not have sores, they carry the germs, they can have an outbreak, and they can spread these germs to others.
