Joint City / County HIV Housing Committee
The Joint City / County HIV Housing Committee serves as an advisory body for us. It is the way our community participates in the planning process of the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program.
The committee provides guidance on unmet needs and makes recommendations for improving our efficiency.
Applications for serving on the Joint City / County HIV Housing Committee are now being accepted - please complete an application.
Diversity
Diversity is important to the make-up of the committee. There are professional, community and consumer interests represented and also a minimum of four people living with HIV/AIDS.
People on the committee are involved in finance, nonprofit housing development, public housing agencies, and housing for the homeless. Other individuals on the committee include those who speak for communities of color, gays and lesbians, women, families and children. Also represented are people with hemophilia or tuberculosis, alcohol and drug users, post-incarcerated people, the developmentally and physically disabled and others.
Funding
HOPWA funds are allocated annually to the San Diego region by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
