What We Investigate


Code Compliance investigates complaints on private property in the unincorporated County. If you are unsure if you live in the unincorporated County, please use the link here to see if you are within the unincorporated area of San Diego County. Here is a list of the most common requests that Code Compliance investigates:

Please note Code Compliance enforces other regulations that are within the County of San Diego Zoning Ordinance as well as the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances. 

What Code Compliance does not investigate


Some common complaints Code Compliance receives are civil matters, including but not limited to:

  • Property line disputes, trees or vegetation hanging over property lines or private road easements.
  • Lack of general private property maintenance such as overgrown lawns, trees, shrubs, fences, and buildings.
  • Conditions and requirements found in private CC&Rs and private road easements.
