Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program provides housing to low-income people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Individuals who have AIDS or HIV may want to apply for rental assistance. On the first page of the application, there are several boxes listing different rental assistance programs, including Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).
Housing and service providers compete for these funds through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The RFP is released when funds are available.
During the planning process, the community has the opportunity to participate through the Joint City / County HIV Housing Committee, which serves as an advisory body to the County Housing and Community Development department.
