County-Paid Long-Term Disability
When a non-work-related illness or injury makes it impossible for you to work for a period of time, Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance guards you against financial loss and helps protect your income.
The County of San Diego provides LTD insurance for some employees, based on job classification. LTD insurance is administered by Lincoln Financial Group.
How do I know if I have County paid LTD insurance?
- Review your Flex Credit/Benefit Summary based on your union code. Disability information can be found on page 3 of your summary.
- Login
to PeopleSoft Self Service on your work computer and look at your
paystub.
- In the Employer Paid Benefits section of your paycheck, you will see a deduction for “Long-Term Disability” if you have County paid LTD.
County-Paid Long-Term Disability Plan
- Benefit Waiting Period: Benefits begin after 30, 60 or 90 days, based on the elimination period listed on the Flex Credit/Benefit Summary for your union code
- Benefits: 66.67% of earnings, up to the maximum benefit based on class

- Maximum Coverage Period: Varies based on age
- Premiums: Paid by the County
