MINOR VIOLATIONS

Minor violations do not directly cause foodborne illness, but are important factors in providing safe, wholesome and unadulterated food products. A minor violation does not pose an imminent health hazard, but if not corrected could possibly lead to an imminent health hazard.

FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION

Examples of minor violations include an expired food safety manager's certification or the lack of a valid food safety certificate available during the inspection.

REQUIREMENTS

  • All food employees shall have adequate knowledge of and be trained in food safety as it relates to their assigned duties (§113947)
  • Food facilities that prepare, handle or serve non-prepackaged potentially hazardous food shall have an owner or employee who has passed an approved food safety certification examination within 60 days of employment or expiration of certificate. Certified individuals shall be recertified every five years (§113947.1)
